Ingredients for 10 liters of paint:

Procedure:

1. Mix 700g of flour in 1 liter of water (it is an important step, be careful not to form lumps). Boil the mixture, gradually lengthened from 7 liters of water. Then add 2 kg of ocher and 200g of sulphate of iron. Heat the mixture for 15 minutes. Cover the container during each stage of cooking to reduce evaporation.
2. Add 1 liter of boiled linseed oil (manufacture of oil fired see below). Bake again for 15 minutes at a simmer, stirring. Add 10cl of soap.
3. Once cooled, the paint is ready for use. It must be thick enough, it is possible to correct the consistency with a little water.
4. Apply in two coats with a brush on a large raw wood, planed or sanded. A fine-grain sanding does not contribute to the good penetration of the paint.
5. The leftover paint can be stored in an airtight container protected from freezing and light. For my part, I keep in canning jars with rubber seal in the cellar.
6. A refresh without prior preparation every 2 to 3 years depending on climatic conditions.
